On June 23rd 2021, the team of Cameroon International Music Festival together with Askia and DrSley had the first press conference chaired by the president of the festival together with members of his team in the presence of the multiple members of the press.
The president Mr Agbor Gilbert gave an opening statement stating the reasons for such an event emphasizing on the importance of the objectives and goals of CIMFEST and how it will benefit the music industry and the community as a whole.
Going on, members of the press stated their worries on the fact that the festival been taken for “an anglophone” event for Anglophone because the organizers are all Anglophones and the event is going to take place in Buea which is the capital of English Cameroon. The president and the administrative director Mr Bilibob Ndive stressed on the the misinterpretation or misconception of the idea that the festival is just for Engish Cameroon. “The name is Cameroon International Music Festival, not English Cameroon International Festival” Mr Ndive stressed. This event is for all Cameroonians, home and abroad.
After a successful 2021 edition with CAMIFF, the team decided to bring to light CIMFEST which has been baby in the nest since the creation of the CAMIFF, Mr Epule Jeffery (technical adviser at CIMFEST)responded to a member of the press who asked for the origin of CIMFEST. It is the right time to attack the problems the music industry is facing with possible solutions, he added.
“Is CIMFEST the solution to the numerous problems the industry is facing?” a member of the press asked. “The Cameroon International Music Festival is creating a platform when problems meet solutions” replied Didi Blaise, Operations and Logistics manager at CIMFEST. The individual and entities CIMFEST is inviting are the solutions to most of the problems the industry is facing, it left for us to fully make use of the opportunity.
CIMFEST is due for November 17th to 20th 2021 in Buea. The team is working hard to have an international standard festival, bringing in experienced and well established entertainment stakeholders from all over the world to enlighten the talented and diverse characters of the music industry in Cameroon.
